Is it better to leave a motor running 24/7 or shut it off?

These are large HVAC motors, and when they are turned on and off repeatedly ie fire alarms, and the energy MANANGEMENT, they fail, and what ever money you've saved, is out the window not to mention the carbon footprint for making a new motor, and melting down the old motor
