Asian Haircut, what do I ask my stylist?

I'm asian, but ive had long hair. I wanted to get the asian haircut, but I don't what hair cut to get to style off of (I use gatsby before I grew out my hair) . Should I get a layered haircut? or what do you recommend, my hair is shoulder length at the moment so I have a lot of leeway.
