Council house rents to rise?

The City of York Council has announced this morning that council house rents in the city are to rise by 6%. York has dozens of empty shops, dozens of closed down pubs, dozens of estate agencies closed, dozens of manufacturers closed down, garages galore with car showrooms closed and thousands of people now out of work and unlikely to find any - there aren't any jobs. Solicitors are also being laid off and managers and their staff from investment businesses. If the professionals can't get work what hope have those living in council rentals and just where are they going to be able to find this extra 6% right now? Our council has just awarded the councillors their second pay rise WITHIN 12 months and have a watertight gold plated pension scheme in place for them which we are all contributing to. Last week they announced rises in payments for on-street parking permits for outside your own house and increases in car park charges. Why don't they have the commercial nouse to understand that when times are hard people don't have any extra money and will therefore have to cut back on things like visiting the city and parking, currently i think it's something like �2.70 per hour and the park and ride facility is neither use nor ornament if you have large heavy shopping. Shouldn't they stop their own pay rise and call a halt to taxpayers contributions from our rates to their pensions before they inflict any more damage on the local economy?

If you don't have a kitchen scale, see if you can tell how many ounces are in the bottle of the spices. If it has the ounces then try to divide the # of ounces by 1/2 for the 1/2 ounces you need. For instance if it is a 8 ounce bottle divided by 1/2 = 16 servings in the bottle try to measure out 1/16 of the bottle. I know its hard but you can eyeball it.

Sorry if I sound like an environmental idiot but I have an honest question. What difference does it make if I conserve water? I realize that there are cities where the water supply is quickly drying up, but I don't live near there. I live near rainy Seattle. Sure it makes sense in the summer and perhaps spring in cities that get their water from the mountain snow pack, but most of the year water is pleantiful. A year ago, my husband and I hit a rough patch, a few outside people came to my husband and his parents and claimed that I had cheated on him and that his son that I was pregnant with was not his, we ended up almost getting a divorce, he was thrown in jail cause we got into a fight, and in the midst of me being a witness/victim for his crimes, I had to show up to court numerous times to testify, I actually had to schedule an induction for my son the earliest possible so I could testify 3 days in a row which we're scheduled on my actual due date, my son almost died cause of the stress the induction put on him, just cause I had show up to those court dates. All of this because two people got together and purposely tried to sabotage our marriage, this cost us over 65k in attorneys, fees, etc. My son was genetically tested, proven to be his son, and I never cheated at all. I need help finding student loans for my first year in college!?

Many of the lenders I have been reading about require that the student have their parent co-sign the loan. Also, these same lenders do credit checks on the co-signer. Since I don't have any credit myself, I would have to have my mom co-sign, but she has horrible credit. Are there loans out there that allow a person with no credit to take out a loan? I recently wrote a paper for my college lit cl, asking what is the american dream and how does it relate to the Great Gatsby. What an original paper idea.........anyways, I wasn't even sure how I wanted to define the American Dream, I havent spent time on this subject. So i did a little googling and after some research with just some blog-ish type sites and random places, I formulated my definition of the American Dream. Since this is a definition, turns out some website has a definition of it similiar to mine. They call it the "driving force" in the book, and in my opening of my paper, I call the American Dream the "driving force" as well. Now let me tell you this is 2 short little sentences in my opening paragraph, and I received an email without warning letting me know that i committed "academic fraud" and it was already reported to the boss of my TA. I have NEVER been accused of such a thing in my 13 years of schooling, and my writing skills is something I pride myself on and I plan to be a journalism major because I love to write. For my teacher to think I purposely was cheating my way out of developing a paper hurts me and I am deeply distraught by the accusation. I am in the Honor's program here and am on the Dean's list with a direct admission to the journalism school....why in God's name would I be the kind of student to cheat? I don't skip cl, and I'm always on time and do my work with integrity. Does anyone have any hints on how to handle this tricky situation? I stand by my paper and I fully developed it in my own words and thoughts, and I do not believe this is a case of plagiarism what so ever, and I don't know how to win this war!

Are Warmblood x Friesian good at eventing?

Thoroughbred type Warmbloods are pretty good, the Frisians usually(but not always) don't have the body type and enough scope to compete at high level eventing. Warmbloods and frisians are known for jumping but in cross country, a phase of eventing, it's not just jumping, it's running. In the lower levels, you'll see all kind of breeds ranging from cob type horses to grade cross horses to the most elite sport horses. It's all a mix at that level, and I think she would make it fine in that. Also, because she isn't broke, you can't tell her full potential, she might be a crack, but might not. Also, did you get a conformation picture? That picture doesn't tell you anything about her body type. Usually a good, motivated seller will include a few good conformation shots. If the owner didn't send you one, I'd start to ume she has something to hide like a major conformation flaw. She sounds decent enough to take a quick look, possibly bring your trainer if you have one for a second opinion. $6000, that's a pretty reasonable price. Her head is pretty though.

Seems to me that Jason and Sam belong together, and I cannot see where Jason and Elizabeth should be together. Can anyone imagine Jason going to Elizabeth (after the shootout and his having to kill a few men to protect his life and Sonny's) and telling her he feels bad about killing these men? Sam was perfect - supporting Jason - it was kill or be killed, he isn't a cold blooded killer thirsty for his next victim. If they start using water cannons then things will get much much worse. People have a right to protest and that's what the students did, it wasn't a riot. At any protest you will get a certain element that attend with the sole purpose of causing trouble, but the vast majority of those that attended protested peacefully and shouldn't be bracketed with the others. The police also need to learn from their mistakes, the kettling and riding horses into a crowd that was mainly peaceful and had youngsters amongst it. It must have been evident some some people on the march would try to get into parliament square, so they should have put up proper barricades if they wanted to stop them.

The writing style is pretty good, but I'm not sure I'm interested enough to continue reading. Many of the sentences use the same basic sentence structure. It sounds like it's at the beginning of a book or in the middle of the book, starting with another character's perspective.

Seating tickets or GA tickets?

The one time I went from SF to Indy we drove 80 through Vail, Denver, and Kansas. I believe that would be I70 to I80 with a short stint on I15. It was an easy route and very scenic through the Rockies which is always best given how much flat land you'll be staring at. I couldn't speak much about any other route though.

I'm quite annoyed at this soccer coach at my middle school?

Recently I moved from England to the United States and went to Soccer tryouts for the Middle School team and the head coach was tricking kids of his list and he got to me and coz I'm European, he went "lucky us, got some European talent this year" and although it is a complement and he propobaly didn't mean it offensively It's quite annoyed me becuase he basicly umed I was good at soccer because I was European which is quite steroytypical views, I mean i am good at soccer but not because I'm European or English but because I have been playing since I was 2 and have had been coached by ex proffesional players at English Club youth academies (mainly Leeds, Hull and Man City). It's not genetic, and it annoys me that people would ume I was good at soccer because I was European not becuase I try hard and practise and had good coaching. Anyway the coach seams like a nice guy just wish Americans would think about why Europeans are in general (not always though) better at soccer before dismissing it as in the genes Europeans have or Europeans are good because there european.

A few questions about a 3- 4 month olds night time sleep. Is this normal?

ok so my baby girl is not the biggest sleeper ever. She has always been a cat napper despite my efforts to get her to sleep longer. It does not seem to bother her during the day, she is pretty happy and content. But over the last month she has become extremely fussy at night time. I try and get her to bed at a good hour but no matter how hard I try she fights her bed time for a couple of hours. It seems that she is getting more and more difficult to get to sleep at nights. What she does is she feeds, then I put her down and she sleeps for a few minutes and then howls the house down. Its not just a tired little wimper either its full on screaming like she is in pain. It takes a long time to settle her, the only thing that works is to feed her again (she is feed). This cycle of feeding and putting her down and then having her go hysterical lasts hours. We have tried burping her and swaddling, pacifiers, white noise, lullaby music, rocking etc etc but we just can not change this behaviour. In the end she finally sleeps out of share exhaustion and then sleeps through until about 8 am, waking once or twice to feed at night (and then straight back to sleep). Im just curious if this behaviour is normal for a 3 month old? could it be colic even though I know shes probably too old to develop colic? do they get over this faze on their own? is there anything we can do that dosnt involve leaving her to cry it out (trust me if you heard the way she screams you wouldnt be able to just walk away and leave her like that its heart breaking). Any advice is really helpful. Thanks

What you're experiencing could definitely be a sign of pregnancy. You could have had implantation bleeding at first and then just normal first trimester spotting. I had the same thing with my first pregnancy. And the itchy could also be a sign. Hormones are a crazy thing and they can affect your body in crazy ways! I used to work at a daycare taking care of two year olds. Pacifiers are a very tricky subject! My co-worker told me about what she did with her sons pacifier and i thought it was adorable, it's something i want to do when i have my children. Take your daughter to a Build-A-Bear store. Let her stuff her pacifier into the stuffed animal. It will be sewn up and she can feel her paci in the stuffed animal whenever she misses it, plus its a great keepsake for when she's older.

Women with PCOS! Does any else have this problem?

I am a very overweight 21 year old female with PCOS. I have steadily gained over 65 pounds in the last 3 years and there is nothing on the face of this earth that I can do to lose it. The doctor said that I have Insulin Resistance so I cut out all sugar and took Metformin and I still did not lose weight. first of all, not that I am being racist (I am not even black), but I noticed that in general black athletes, including wrestlers seem to be better in general. They just sometimes seem to be less social, which is the way it should be in my opinion. After all the show was meant to be about wrestling (which is how it was originally by the way), not about all these socializing storylines and crap. With that said, Shelton Benjamin is in my opinion the best actual wrestler in the WWE right now, and based on his skills I think it would be absolutely incredible to see him face Taker at mania. Music is really appealing to people and tend to bring people together. It has power to get everyone excited too. Maybe you can also think of ways to reward usual participants when they bring a friend with them? I'm just spitting out ideas... You guys have awesome ideas though!

Korean social clash or just a bad experience?

Okay, in May of this year I flew to Korea to meet a penpal/friend who I've known for a little over a year on the internet through myspace and penpal websites where we became very good friends. Her and her parent's invited me to stay at their apartment for 2 weeks. I get there and everything's great. We went sight seeing, go on shopping trips, night clubs and went to some temples in Changwon and Busan. We where laughing, smiling and having a good time. But when we went to Seoul she completely changed. She started to ignore me and be really mean towards me. For example I ran out of actual hard cash and I had to pay her for the train tickets she booked in advance. When I tell her she rolls her eyes and says you should of known how much cash before you came! I'm thinking in my mind woah! geez! We get to the atm that takes international credit cards and it's all in Korean. I said to her can you help me? She rolled her eyes again and said can't you just do it! I got my cash and as I was trying to put it in my money belt she started walking out of the bank and I'm like can you please wait for me? She rolls her eyes again. Then in the subway in Seoul it's packed with people and I'm surrounded by a whole bunch of old ladies and at one of the stops walks off without a word and the doors closed and she's gone! I get off at the next stop and wait there. Hoping she'll get on the next train and meet me there. She does and I tell her can u please talk to me so we don't get lost? Then at the last palace we go to in Seoul she finally snaps at me. Saying "There's a sign in English! Read it! I'm not your guide!". I was totally caught off guard at that point coz I thought everything was going so well. Then I asked her trying not to cry why are you treating me like this! Then she says i don't understand how difficult it is for her to speak English. Even though her English is super good. Then she said I should of known what to do (like the atm, using a Korean washing machine at the hostel we stayed at) before coming here! I'm like I never even been to Korea before! How can you expect me to know anything in 2 weeks without asking for help! Then she gives me the story about how hard it was for her in America as an exchange student in America for a year and how she had to do everything by herself. I said to her "I just asked you how do you do it!" I didn't ask her to actually do it for me! At that point I didn't want her to runaway from me in Seoul so I just said "Let's just go". Then we got back to Changwon that day. I was so happy to see her parents because they're super nice. Then the next day I decided to just explore Changwon myself. Which was pretty cool because I met a doctor at the mcdonalds who was surprised to see a foreigner. I told him about my trip and what at had happened. He gave me some pretty good advice. Then the next day my penpal's former english tutor wanted to introduce me to his night cl of high school girls. Which was pretty fun. It was a great change from being around my penpal. That night though I couldn't take anymore of it though and I told her mother what had happened. My penpal refused to translate for me though. So they had a english dictornary and I got the point across to her mother. Her mother got super mad at her. My penpal was telling me how hard it was having to pay for herself at the places we went. I told her if you didn't wanna go to a certain place we didnt have to. (she planned all the places we went to) Out of shock they told me I have to go to a hotel. Her mother felt super bad for me and kept telling me sorry. I gave them the gifts I brought for the family at that point. I was gonna give it to them on my last day. This made the mother feel even worse. I kept telling her it's ok. I couldn't keep the gifts coz of the weight in my luggage. Then the english tutor who i met earlier showed up. I think the mother had called him. He translated everything I had to say to her mother. Telling everything that had happened. So the mother helped me pack my suitcases and we went to this fancy hotel. I felt super bad there because she was gonna pay for me to stay in this nice hotel. I offered her some money for it but she refused and said via the tutor "sorry, for my inmature daughter. " So I stayed there the rest of my trip (3 nights) I did a little bit more exploring of Changwon. Then the English tutor and my penpal's mother came to pick me up. Then they dropped me off at Gimhae Airport I told the mom thanks for everything you were very nice to me shook her hand and I made my journey back to Toronto, Canada and then back to Buffalo, NY. I was still upset when I got home cause I lost a good friend. Then just today I looked her up on a penpal website and she changed it talking about visiting penpals and said "Watch out for selfish people!". So Koreans what do you think of all this? Is it okay to let my puppy sleep with me?

I have an eight week old toy poodle puppy. As soon as I got him home he has been using puppy pads and only had one accident because I had him in another room. But if there is a puppy pad he uses it or tries to find it. I have been trying to put him in his crate at night but he gets extremely upset and starts to tear up anything he can and he thrashes around in the crate and he cries really loud all night (I mean all night). I tried putting him in the bed with me and he curled up next to my stomach and he slept there all night without waking up. I know a lot of people say this isn't good but I am afraid he will hurt himself in his crate. He craves to be with me and loves to sit on my lap and follow me around the house. He gets very upset when he is not next to me. I am trying to teach him to go in his crate for a few hours during the day which he is doing okay with. He cries a little but soon quiets down. But at night he just wants to snuggle up with me because he feels safe and warm. If I make sure I reinforce that I am the pack leader and I work really hard on obedience training is it okay to let him sleep with me? I don't mind because he is warm and cuddly I don't roll so I won't hurt him.

I dont know much about Soccer i just support Peru because i was born there, but raised in miami. I want to know if in soccer scoring officials or federation officials can review the game, and maybe make a diffrent judgment/ result or outcome of a game, due to what clearly was a game that seemed to be set up against Peru? Can any sactions be made against the refs. Also, not to take anything away from the team that won, but at the same time let them have something they really didnt earn,I think what should be done in fairness to both teams is call the game a 0-0 draw, worst case would be finding a way to replay the game with diffrent refs, along with penalizing them by suspending them for the rest of the tournament. If they are beating you under the middle, you are going to want to run a zone to keep linebackers in. If you are getting beat deep, you want a man press with cover two help. Should I switch my major to become a chef?

I have always really loved food and since my 8th grade year, after watching show featuring Jamie Oliver, i knew i wanted to cook as a profession...i worked in my schools cafeteria and attended a few cooking cles in my area and experiment with different food at home n tried different recipes. however, during the summer of my sopre year, at camp, my aunt asked about my future career. she started asking me all sorts of probing questions and i wasnt sure how to answer them because i had been caught off guard as well as the fact that me n her never talked but mabye twice a year...i have never been too comfortable around her. then she asked me to taste a cake for her n tell her how it could be improved...i still wasnt sure how to answer. in the end she concluded that i didnt have a pion for cooking and that i should find a new career path...i listened to her advice and abandoned pursuing that career...it is now four years later and i have found myself regretting not going to culinary school...i am currently a physical education major and i love sports but im not sure if i can see myself doing that for the rest of my life...i feel very confused right now about whether i should switch majors or just finish my bachelors in teaching...my mom has laughed at me when i brought the subject up and says she doesnt see that i have any type of pion for cooking...only my best friend says she believes in me and supports me and thinks that i should switch...any kind of opinion or advice would be greatly appreciated...should i switch my major?

Wedding decorations for a church?

Having an archway or decorated columns would be nice. You could use ferns and other greenery to decorate and even fall colored candles or tulle. Another way to tie in the theme would be to have your flower girl toss real or artificial fall colored leaves down the aisle instead of flower petals. If there is a Hobby Lobby store in your area you can gets lots of ideas by just walking through the store. The hay bales sounds like a cute idea. Fall colored fruits such as red and green apples or oranges in clear containers or vases would be nice centerpieces or decoration. The fall theme is very popular and you can find good ideas as well as beautiful pictures in bridal magazines.
